Week 6

 This week was mostly spent compiling everything into the production bible.

I finished the last touches to my model sheets and began bringing all our elements into the final production bible that we will be submitting. 


We finished the production bible and poster and submitted the final assignment.


I am quite satisfied with the final product, we met our aesthetic needs quite well and created a creative, original and fun character and vehicle design. 

The main issue in our finished production bible was the lack of drawing skills on my part so some drawings are not perfect but I think they convey the important information that a 3D artist would need.

  An item I like the design of is my snowboard. The profile of different boards are specific to different riding styles or terrains. This board has a camber-rocker profile meaning the nose and tail of the board are raised but not quite as much as a snowboard made for riding in deep snow which would raise the nose a lot more. This shape also means that underneath the riders feet this board has camber, meaning the board curves upwards creating space between the bottom and the ground when no weight is on the board.  This drawing visualises that shape: The curve under the riders feet allows for more pop when going into turns and when doing jumps. As well as the shape the board is light and flexible which again makes it pop more and also helps enter turns quicker and easier. I like this design because it creates a fun, fluid riding experience and makes jumps easier and higher.

Week 12

 This week I finished every part of the model that my group assigned me to do. In total this includes: the body from neck to feet, the characters jacket, skirt, boots and a sort of scarf. The only thing I still had to do this week was the scarf so after finishing that I sent my file to my group.  Overall I am very happy with the final look of the model, it looks almost identical to the model in the production bible, there were not really any changes I made to the model, it just looks slightly more realistic and not as cartoony as the model sheet. I still tried to stick to the cartoon look but in 3D it gets lost a little.  Next we just have to connect the body with the head that my group member made and then place it with the motorcycle our other group member made. Overall I think we divided up the jobs fairly well and we communicated what we were doing. Although we were missing a fourth group member we still did ok and I do not feel that anyone was doing too much work. Ha...

 What makes the design unique? The colour scheme and the cartoony shape.  What are some examples from the commercial space (TV/Film/Games etc) that are in the same general idea as the bible you are working from? Our character strongly resembles GoGo Tomago from Big Hero 6   How cohesive are the vehicle and character in the provided bible? They share the same colourscheme as well as the lines and small details on the characters clothes being similar to those on the vehicle Why are you either making changes to the provided bible designs or leaving them without changes? (discuss this in terms of visual design here, not just "It's fine as it is). The design is somewhat simple, the only change we are making is adding fingers to the hand which the character in the provided bible does not have. This last week has been mostly spent getting a better understanding of maya by using tools like the Joan of Arc tutorial.
