Week 12

This week I finished every part of the model that my group assigned me to do. In total this includes: the body from neck to feet, the characters jacket, skirt, boots and a sort of scarf. The only thing I still had to do this week was the scarf so after finishing that I sent my file to my group.  Overall I am very happy with the final look of the model, it looks almost identical to the model in the production bible, there were not really any changes I made to the model, it just looks slightly more realistic and not as cartoony as the model sheet. I still tried to stick to the cartoon look but in 3D it gets lost a little.  Next we just have to connect the body with the head that my group member made and then place it with the motorcycle our other group member made. Overall I think we divided up the jobs fairly well and we communicated what we were doing. Although we were missing a fourth group member we still did ok and I do not feel that anyone was doing too much work. Ha...

Week 11

At the start of this week I finished the body. It does not look perfect and when mirroring the one side do make my full body there were some other little mistakes that I tried fixing a bit but overall I am quite happy with how it turned out.  After finishing the body I got started on the clothes and the colouring.  To make the skirt I made a plane and warapped it around the waist, shaping it as I went along to make it look right. For the jacket I cloned the character torso and then played around with it to make it look like a jacket. I made the zipper separately and will attach it o the jacket aftyerwards. The boot was fairly simple, I just made a larger, less shaped and detailed version of the foot and made some slight changes. After I have added the colour I will mirror it to make the second one. There were some errors going on with the colouring. UV unwrapping and using the 3D paint tool did not work no matter how many things I tried but I managed to get it done by co...

Week 10

This week was mostly spent on the waist, stomach and buttocks of the character, the latter proved to be the most difficult part I have experienced so far. It was very tedious and slow work but I think I managed and the shape of the lower torso and finished legs somewhat resembles my model sheet, although the model sheet is slightly unhelpful when trying to figure out the proportions of my character as she wears a baggy hoodie and a skirt so the only reference I have is the width of her shoulders and the small amount of leg that is visible between the skirt and boots.  A lot of the work has been somewhat repetitive just extruding the faces and moving verteces to make the body look right.
